The Morgan County Humane Society was founded in the 1970s by two ladies, a handful of foster homes, and a van. Every Saturday, they held an adoption event in the old K-mart parking lot in Martinsville. In 1998, a large donation was given to the humane society that allowed us to buy an old church on the outskirts of Martinsville. All animals adopted from the Humane Society of Morgan County are spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies, and microchipped! Dogs are also heartworm tested, receiving heartworm prevention, and have received vaccines for kennel cough and distemper/parvovirus, as age appropriate.
